Imagine you are in a new city trying to figure out directions when the watch on your wrist, through subtle touch-like sensations, guides you to your destination. The team of three is bootstrapping the venture and will be launching a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter within a month. Namma(Bengaluru) Metro to Open Retail Spaces for Startups at Five Stations.

The city's metro rail authority is inviting emerging businesses to set up offices at the Byappanahalli, Swamy Vivek ananda Road, Indiranagar, Halasuru and Trinity metro stations, following the success of a so-called `makerspace', Workbench Projects, that opened at the Halasuru station. Startups can bid for 31 office spaces of 100 sqft to 4,000sqft. The rents range from 35 per sqft to 120 per sqft depending on the station. The tender document for selection of licensees of retail outlets will be available on BMRCL's website from July 4 to July 26. The bid document can be purchased until July 26. The bids have to be submitted on August 11.

Funding race: Travel beats Ecommerce

For the first time since 2011, travel segment has featured among the top three funded sectors. Travel startups have received $366,450,000 while ecommerce marketplace startups have received $357,831,100 in funding since the beginning of 2016, as per the data. A bulk of the funds for travel startups came through two deals, with Ibibo Group raising $250 million in February in a Series-C round while OYO Rooms raised $100 million in a Series-D round in April. The travel sector saw more than double the number of startups being founded this year, at 36, compared to 17 in ecommerce business.
